Calanque de Sormiou (Marseille)

Service Description

Starting from the Calanque de Sormiou, we complete the full circuit of the Bec de Sormiou, leaving the hiking trails to traverse directly along the white limestone cliff face, suspended high above the Mediterranean. Along the way, we cross the Grotte du Capelan on a zip line, learn the basics of rappelling, and take in wide views stretching from Marseille to Cassis. We also pass the “extreme Bec,” a sharp rock point that juts out over the sea and gives the route its characteristic name. This route suits people in good physical condition, including children from 13 years old. No previous climbing experience is required. The itinerary includes exposed sections and a few short climbing passages. Duration: Allow approximately 3.5 hours for the activity (approach walk, rappels, zip lines, and climbing sections). Difficulty level: 2/3. Included: - Supervision by a state-certified climbing instructor - Loan of technical equipment (harness, helmet, ropes, carabiners, belay device) To bring (not included): - Transportation to the meeting point - Appropriate clothing (sportswear, approach or trail shoes) - Lightweight windbreaker or fleece - A small backpack (can be shared within a group) - Water (1–2 liters per person depending on the season) - Snacks for the activity (energy bars, fruit chews) Base price is for group size of up to 3.
