Courses designed to take you to the next level
Horizon Climbing courses are designed for climbers ready to take the next step: becoming self-sufficient on multi-pitch and adventure routes. Over 3 to 5 days of full immersion, you'll develop the technical skills, judgement, and confidence needed to climb independently with your own partners. The aim is to give you the tools, real-world experience, and perspective to assess your abilities, so that you can confidently plan and climb your own objectives.
Each course combines technical instruction (such as building anchors, belaying, abseiling, and placing protection) with extensive hands-on practice on real routes, progressing from straightforward objectives to longer and more committing multi-pitch climbs. Group sizes are kept small (typically five participants) to ensure personalised coaching throughout.
Examples of Available Courses
Introduction to Multi-pitch (3 days)
Designed for climbers who are confident leading single-pitch routes and want to progress safely into multi-pitch climbing. The programme covers anchor building, belaying the second, abseiling, and progressively longer and more committing multi-pitch routes.
Introduction to Trad Climbing (3 days)
For climbers wishing to discover traditional climbing using removable protection. The course includes crack and corner climbing, placing natural protection, route reading, gear placement, and movement in adventure terrain.
Multi-pitch Skills Development Course (3 days)
Designed for climbers with prior multi-pitch experience who want to refine their skills. Topics include self-rescue and emergency procedures, hauling systems, efficient rope management, handling unexpected situations on a route, and tackling more challenging objectives.
